Ginger Shots

My Ususal Go-to ginger shots

Ingredients

  • 1 large piece of ginger
  • 3 satsumas/tangerines/easy peeler things
  • 1 lemon - juiced
  • 1 tbsp runny honey
  • 1 tsp tumeric
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (ground/powdered)
  • 250 ml cold water

Instructions

  • Roughly cut up the ginger
  • Cut the baby oranges in half and remove the peel and inner white pith
  • Add everything to a blender and blend in short bursts of 10 seconds
  • Put some cheese/muslin cloth over a sieve and pour ginger shot mix over. Let it drain naturally
  • Once it finishes draining, lift up the muslin/cheese cloth, gently twist and milk out remaining juices (we've all seen pornhub)
  • Pour into a 500ml bottle or individual shot bottles

Notes

This may be one of the only recipes where I mention cutting babies.
Can use whatever honey you like as long as it's runny. Or you can substitute for maple syrup.
Amount of ginger I use is normally from the length of my middle finger down to my wrist with a width of about my index and ring fingers. Just measured and it's around 18cm x 4cm (7inch x 1 1/2inch).
Measurements are all subjective and can be altered to taste as with most recipes.
When squeezing/milking the remains of the juice, hold the cheese cloth over the sieve so that if the cloth breaks the sieve will prevent the solid parts dropping back into the liquid
